Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) honors a distinguished driver with the International Driver Excellence Award (IDEA). This prestigious award, sponsored by PrePass Safety Alliance, recognizes drivers who exemplify the highest standards of safety and professionalism on the road.
To qualify for the IDEA award, drivers must meet stringent criteria that highlight their dedication to safety. An IDEA recipient must have:
- At least 25 cumulative years of crash-free driving in a commercial motor vehicle with a clean driving record for the past three years
- No felony convictions
- No safety-related driving suspensions in the past three years
- No driver violations in the past three years, excluding form and manner violations
These rigorous requirements ensure that only the most exceptional drivers are considered, making the IDEA award a symbol of true excellence in the trucking industry.
